Design Process and Pricing

The first step of the design process is a 30 to 60 minute site visit at your property. During this time, we will discuss the details of your space, determine your priorities, and outline a vision.
The site visit is an essential component to getting started, and you will be invoiced a $155 deposit, with payment due at the time of scheduling.

During the site visit, we will have the chance to talk about your ideas in person, and I will take the necessary notes and measurements.

At the conclusion of the site visit, I will have a good understanding of the scope of the project and I will propose a design fee to put the project on paper.
If you choose to proceed with the design, the $155 deposit will be deducted from the design fee. If you choose not to proceed, the $155 deposit is not refundable.

Once the design fee is set, I return to my studio to draw up your custom plans and assemble a plant palette. The custom hand-drawn design plan is set to scale, includes all new plants and hardscape features, and identifies any existing plants that might stay in place.

The plant palette features pictures and names of new plants and provides notes to guide installation, maintenance, and first season watering instructions.
Together, the design and plant palette provides everything needed to install, establish, and maintain a new and healthy landscape.

Once the custom design plan and plant palette are completed, we will schedule a second appointment to return to your property with your custom plans. The full design fee, less deposit, is collected at this time. This appointment typically takes an hour to walk through the design and review all the details.

Design Fees are variable based on the scope of the project.
Typical residential design fees fall in the following range:

Front foundation/ Backyard foundation: $650 - $900+

Front yard full/ Backyard full : $850 - $1,500+

Complete residential master plan: $2,000+

Disclaimer: Minor tweaks to the design are covered by the design fee. Greater changes in scope will require an additional fee.

I am happy to provide referrals for quality installers in the area. I am not affiliated with any installers and will only recommend landscape companies that I have had good experience with in the past. The design and plant palette provide plenty of detail to allow installers to provide quotes. I do not provide estimates for cost of installation.
